Homemade Chili Powder (Not Spicy)
This chili powder is not spicy at all. If you like a little spice, you can add a bit of cayenne pepper. - Jenny Jones
Ingredients:
- 3 Tablespoons sweet paprika
- 1 Tablespoon cumin
- 1 Tablespoon dried oregano leaves
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice
- 1/8 teaspoon cloves
Instructions:
- Combine.
Tried this with less of the oregano and cloves and put just a dash of brown sugar in (my kids hate spicy and love a little sweeter taste) and OMG.. delicious. Also.. using ground sausage instead of ground beef goes a long way. Love chili when it’s cold outside!
can u use sweet pepers chill
What can I use instead of allspice? I am also allergic to that.
make it and taste it first. you will know how much to use. kinda like salt. not enough or too much won’t be good.
How many tablespoons of this chili seasoning per pound of meat?
Deb, it’s more like by 1/ 4 cup per pound of meat. like in a stew. for a brisket rub then I would blend it to a powder and use 1 1/2 cup per 12 lb. brisket. don’t forget to inject it too. on chicken an injection is a must. or peel back the skin and rub it all over then skin it. lightly sprinkle on top too. do not add any other spices or flavoring to get this recipe results.
more later after using it to make carnitas and for tamale meat seasoning.
This is awesome! I’m allergic to chili peppers and need a recipe like this!
Thank you
I also have issues with chili peppers. Sweet paprika is fine for me, but some smoked paprika isn’t.
Thank You Jenny!!! Just made this. So healthy without salt!! Your recipes are fantastic. I have used the pizza dough, bbq chicken pizza, bread and dessert rolls(the ones which you braid and the cinammon rolls filled with raspberry jam), lemon pie, foccacia, bean soup, and probably more!!
Interesting. A Chili Powder mix without Chili powder? Our family loves homemade chili con carne. I make a mix that has Chili powder, Cumin, Garlic, Onion, Salt and Pepper. It also goes into Taco meat, Enchiladas and anything with a Southwest flair. My Hispanic Friends love this.too I Love your videos. Great Stuff.
Recipe looks incredible thank you. Neither myself or my wife eat spicy food. Your recipe is fantastic.
Thank you very much!
Ready to try this mild seasoning recipe – looks good! Question: how much of this do I put in a batch?…please tell me proportion. Thanks so much!
No salt? Too flat, needs salt and pepper. Added some curry powder too.
Made this,, this morning, added corn kernels, diced sweet potato, some hot pepper flakes, Sriracha ketchup, dry yellow mustard and some sliced cooked chicken breast, to make this a complete meal. Delish! Thanks far a great recipe. I’ve followed you for a long time, you make every recipe look so easy!

I couldn’t agree more. I want Jenny to know how grateful I am that her recipes are tasty without being hot. I’ve been struggling with this issue for years because my son has GERD, and most recipes everywhere nowadays seem to rely on hot spices, which, by the way, are often expensive and/or hard to find.
