I was craving a good hamburger so I made sesame seed buns from scratch and they were ready in an hour. I can’t find whole wheat flour right now so I used my white bread with egg recipe. Just before baking, I brushed the buns using beaten egg yolk with a little water and sprinkled on the seeds. You can brush with egg white, egg yolk or even a beaten egg. Let me tell you, these were some awesome burgers! I used lean ground beef and I cooked the patties in a hot cast iron skillet. I seared them first so they were beautifully browned and tasted like they just came off the grill. (I should have taken a picture but I was hungry ?)
I had all the trimmings on hand, including lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, mayo, and ketchup. WOW! I may never cook a burger on the grill again. I also made oven fries since I had a russet potato. I peeled and sliced it into fairly thin wedges, tossed them in olive oil, salt & pepper, and roasted them in a 425 oven on a baking sheet for about half an hour. Next time I make this classic American meal (and there will be a next time) I will post it as a recipe so everyone can enjoy delicious hamburgers at home. I never made a burger in a skillet before so I even surprised myself.

I’m a total newb and I made these hamburger buns today! They are so good! Better better better than store bought!
Once I figured out how important the temps of the liquids are AND how to properly proof my yeast I’m unstoppable!! LOL Thanks Jenny!!
WOW!! That’s all I can say about both your hamburger and hot dog buns. I’ve make both a couple of times during the summer and will not be buying hamburger or hot dog buns again.
I find that they are like a brioche texture. We love them because they don’t fall apart, which is great for keeping your hot dog or burger together.
Thanks again Jenny for another wonderful recipe.
I made your hamburger buns and they were not only easy to make, but great tasting. I’m going to make your pizza on Friday. Thanks for the website and wonderful recipes.
Hi Jenny, love and appreciate you. I am the ex-wife of a Polish immigrant so I understand the culture you grew up with. Lots of healthy food but Poles (& Americans) too often die of heart disease because of all the meat. I hope you’ll do some research into plant-based cooking, which is almost like yours except for a few tweaks. You can make a hamburger with beyond meat. You can come up with different veggie burgers. Big trend now in Chicago with Vegan Polish cooking. Have you seen Forks over Knives? Or the new documentary by James Cameron The Game Changers? With the pandemic it’s especially important people keep their blood nice and thin, which plant-based eating does. Both those documentaries also show clearly how diabetes is directly a result from eating animal products. You could help a lot of people transition away from meat and dairy, and actually cure those underlying health conditions making them vulnerable to the virus.
I came here for the bread tutorials and really appreciate them, & I used to watch you on TV years ago 🙂
I made your hamburger buns yesterday. They are fabulous! And sooooo easy. Will probably never buy buns again. Thank you, Jenny, for all your recipes and videos. I’m making your baked ziti for dinner tonight.
These rolls look so good! Will have to try them. Thanks Jenny for all your recipes. You are my go to gal! Just made your whole wheat bread since I scored some whole wheat flour! Delicious! Thank you.
Please do more videos! I love them!
