This soft and sweet egg bread is easier to make than it looks. It’s fast. It’s beautiful. And it’s full of golden raisins. My simple recipe needs only one rise so it’s ready in just over two hours. You start with a simple but sweet egg bread and divide it into two. Roll each half into a 24-inch rope. Twist the ropes together like this…
Place the rope on your baking sheet and shape it onto a wreath, pinching and tucking the edges in the best you can. Here it is ready to rise…
After it rises in a warm spot and had doubled in size, it will look like this…
Now, just bake and finish. To ensure success have all your ingredients at room temperature, including the egg + yolk. Adding a cold egg will slow down the rise time. Make the powdered sugar glaze as thin or thick as you like. In the photo at the top I made a slightly thinner glaze than the one on the recipe page. Enjoy this delicious sweet holiday bread on any special occasion. Click here for the recipe. – Jenny Jones
Eliminating the raisins be okay?
Can I make this into a loaf pan?
What ingredients are needed?
Hi Jenny,
This Easter Bread recipe looks amazing! I am going to try it to have on Palm Sunday for a dinner I am having, can I make this a few days before?
Thank.
Homemade bread does not keep as well as commercial bread so I would not recommend making it days before.
Looks yummy. Can i make on saturday to serve sunday? How should it be stored?
Thank you
We are in the process of making this beautiful bread (one batch/loaf) for each of my children’s teachers for Easter. What joy I have found in watching your videos and making your recipes! Thank you so much, Jenny! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE you!!!
Oh my gosh! I screwed this up! Lol I let it rise when it was in a ball shape. ?
Happy Easter everyone!
Jenny
I want to try this bread is it a dessert bread and what can I do or not do to make this bread a main bread for a meal. Thanks Love your site
I have been baking for a very long time with some results less than successful. I am delighted to find your bread recipes – so simple, so quick & delicious. I am in the process of making the Easter bread. For some reason I don’t like cooked raisins so I did not add them. This is a trial batch so I’m not adding the glaze. I will put an egg wash prior to baking and think it’ll come out great. Thanks so much I love your recipes. Happy Easter!
Instead of raisins or citrin I use candied cherry or marachino cherries cup up which I let dry out for a day or 2 before using. If I don’t dry them out it worked out okay too.
I just love your way of cooking, I have made many of your dishes
with a few extra spices of my own, Thank you so much for making
cooking easy, God be with you . Deborah
